Farms:

Raises chickens and grows peaches, plums, nectarines, oranges, mandarins, raisin grapes and table grapes.

Ag employer:

Vernon’s philosophy is to treat each employee as an individual and like an extension of his family. He recognizes the importance of retaining good employees which means keeping them working year-round. The packinghouse added pomegranates and citrus to the existing tree fruit pack line so the work is nearly 12 months long. Employees show their appreciation in loyalty with the average employee tenure at 12 years. There are some longer-term employees who have been apart of the field or packing operation more than 30 years.

Steward of the land:

Vernon is an organic farmer. He uses creative methods to fight pest and disease in his orchards and vineyards. He partners with several organic farmers in the state to source fresh fruits and vegetables for the community supported agriculture program that he runs called Abundant Harvest Organics.

Message on a piece of fruit:

Somewhere within the problem is the solution.
